KUWAIT: CAA Reiterates that Transit Hub Operations Remain Suspended

KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait

  • Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) stated that reports on the resumption of transit operations at Kuwait International Airport (KWI) are inaccurate and that airline transit hub operations remain suspended until further notice. Flights that start or end in Kuwait are unaffected. Connecting traffic is not.
  • Spokesman Abdullah Al-Rajhi told Kuwait News Agency that the regulator has not coordinated with any airline on resumption of transit operations. Jazeera Airways had earlier claimed to be resuming transit flights from October 1 onwards.
  • The Kuwait Flight Information Region (FIR) is still subject to operational constraints given the threat of further Iranian drone and missile attacks.
  • NOTAM A0394/26, which replaced A0338/26 and runs from 2 October 2026 at 1130L (0830Z) to 2 November 2026 at 1200L (0900Z), says the Kuwait FIR is still restricted to arrival and departure flights only, subject to prior approval from Kuwait DGCA Air Transport Department.
  • Overflight operations through the FIR are not permitted.
  • KWI still sees significant scheduled passenger and cargo services from a multitude of foreign carriers.
