IRAQ: Al-Diwaniyah Inks MOU To Build Own International Airport
AL DIWANIYAH, Iraq
- The government of Al Diwaniyah province, in Iraq's central Al-Qadisiyyah Governorate, signed an MOU with Ru'ya Al-Balaghi and Chinese firm Kam Si to construct Al Diwaniyah International Airport.
- Governor Abbas Shuail Al-Zamili said the airport project is important for infrastructure and economic activity.
- Al-Zamili added the project will stimulate trade and investment and create new economic opportunities, according to Iraqi News Agency WAA.
- Al Diwaniyah is approximately 200 kilometers south of Baghdad.
- The seven designated primary international airports in Iraq are Baghdad (BGW), Erbil (EBL), Sulaymaniyah (ISU), Al Najaf (NJF), Mosul (OSM), Basra (BSR), and Kirkuk (KIK).
