# YEMEN: Houthis Hit Aden Airport With Missile Attack

ADEN, Yemen

- Yemenia flight IY 612 escaped damage at Aden International Airport (ADE/OYAA) when two Houthi missiles struck the airport grounds during the evening of Friday, 16 October 2026.
- Aden Security Department reported no casualties.
- Yemeni Information Minister Muammar al-Iryani confirmed passengers and crew of flight IY 612, which was departing for Cairo (CAI/HECA), remained safe.
- Al-Iryani stated the missiles landed 500 meters from the Yemenia aircraft, A320-200 (MSN 2752 | 7O-AFD), and 100 meters from the runway 26 centreline.
- FlyAden flight DH 101, operated by A320-200 (MSN 6474 | 7O-QAA), which was inbound from Cairo, diverted to Djibouti (DJI/HDAM) after holding over Aden airspace for more than one hour without landing clearance. The flight subsequently landed in Aden with a delay of four hours, flight tracking data shows.
- Al-Iryani described the strike as a direct threat to passengers, crews and air navigation safety.
- Al-Iryani noted Aden International Airport serves patients, students and expatriates traveling abroad.
- Al-Iryani said the Yemeni government continues efforts with the Saudi-led coalition to protect vital facilities.
