- flydubai’s Aircraft Maintenance Centre (AMC) at the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub in Dubai South (previously known as Dubai World Central) is on track to finish construction by the end of 2026 and become fully operational in the first quarter of 2027.
- The purpose-built facility covers 32,600 square metres and is located at Dubai Al-Maktoum Airport (DWC). Construction began in 2025. The investment is worth USD 190 million.
- Senior management, including Chief Executive Officer Ghaith Al Ghaith, inspected the site on 22 October. Once completed, the project will move into operational readiness, systems integration and technical commissioning.
- The centre will include heavy maintenance hangars, specialised engineering workshops, materials warehousing and administrative space. Once open, it will house 400 technical staff and bring more maintenance, repair and overhaul work in-house.
- The facility is intended to support flydubai’s growing fleet and reduce turnaround times. flydubai has orders for more than 300 aircraft, including 30 Boeing 787s with deliveries expected from 2028. It expects to take 11 Boeing 737s in 2026, taking the fleet to about 100 aircraft.
- The centre sits near Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport. flydubai signed the agreement with the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub at the 2023 Dubai Airshow.
