SYRIA: Libyan Airlines Looks to Resume Syria Flights
DAMASCUS, Syria
- Ghayth Sulayman, Director of Aviation Security at the Syrian General Authority for Civil Aviation and Air Transport, and Raafat Kanou, Director of the International Cooperation Office at the Authority, met with a Libyan Airlines delegation headed by Regional Director Muhammad Mahfouz Douma to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in air transport.
- The meeting at the Authority building in Damascus reviewed the air transport agreement signed between the two countries, Libyan Airlines' desire to resume flights to Syria, and the necessary operational requirements and procedures to resume air traffic between the two countries.
- At present, Syrianair and Syrian carrier FlyCham offer direct Syria-Libya flights with scheduled Damascus-Tripoli services.
- Libya Airlines' much reduced scheduled network entails a single A320-200 used to connect Tripoli Mitiga with Benghazi, Tunis, Sfax, Monastir, Cairo, Alexandria, and Niamey.
