Sudan and South Sudanese FIR Corridors (SCAA)

- In 2016, the government of South Sudan signed a three-year agreement with Sudan under the International Civil Aviation Organization to manage and control its airspace.
- South Sudan then took initial control of its lower airspace on December 11, 2021, and later launched a complete, integrated Air Traffic Management system with the aim of taking full operational control of its entire airspace in May this year.
- The two sides also covered preparations for the country's first ever ICAO Universal Security Audit Programme (USAP) audit, scheduled for 2027.
- ICAO confirmed it will continue supporting South Sudanese airport and Air Traffic Management (ATM) staff with training and capacity-building.
- The SSCAA said it aims to bring South Sudan's aviation sector in line with international safety and security standards and integrate it more closely with regional aviation.
