SAUDI ARABIA: Jeddah Airport’s Terminal 4 Begins Phased Operations, Adding 15m Passenger Capacity
JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia
- JEddah's King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) began phased operations at Terminal 4, the redeveloped former South Terminal.
- Terminal 4 adds annual capacity for up to 15 million passengers.
- A transition plan relocates foreign airlines from the North Terminal and selected carriers from Terminal 1 and the Hajj and Umrah Terminals.

- First phase on September 27 transferred Wizz Air, AJet and SalamAir flights to Terminal 4. Fly Jinnah and Nesma Airlines will relocate on Monday, September 28, followed by Akasa Air on Tuesday, September 29. These flights will then be followed by SyrianAir and Pegasus on Thursday October 1, and Azerbaijan Airlines and Tunisair on Saturday October 3.
- Additional international carriers will move gradually under an approved transition plan.
- Jeddah Airports Co., also known as JEDCO, manages the airport.
- KAIA handled a record 53.4 million passengers in 2025.
- The expansion supports Saudi Arabia’s Aviation Program under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Vision 2030.
- The program targets more than 90 million annual passengers at KAIA by 2030.
- Kingdom-wide annual passenger capacity is set to reach 330 million by 2030.
- Saudi airports will connect to more than 250 destinations worldwide.
- The move redistributes passenger traffic, increases operational capacity and streamlines procedures.
- Terminal 4 covers 97,000 sq. meters and includes a dedicated group check-in facility for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
- Terminal 4 opened in 1981, closed in 2020 and now resumes operations.
