NOUACEUR, Morocco

- MEDZ, a subsidiary of the Caisse de dépôt et de gestion, announced on Sunday, 11 October, the signing of an agreement with Sweden's Trelleborg Aerospace to almost double the covered area of its aeronautical sealing systems factory in Nouaceur from 5,209 to over 10,000 square meters.
- The deal was signed between Trelleborg and Midparc Casablanca Free Zone at the Marrakech Air Show.
- The expansion covers a unit already in production, with the amount of additional investment, associated staff numbers and construction schedule still to be determined.
- The initial plant, inaugurated on June 9, represented an investment of MAD 130 million Moroccan dirhams (USD 13.4 million) and targets 150 to 200 jobs in the long term.
- Located in the Midparc aerospace industrial zone near Mohammed V Airport, the facility is Trelleborg's first in Morocco dedicated to polymer seals for aircraft.
- Production began at opening and the group expects to reach full capacity within two years.
- The plant manufactures airframe seals made from elastomers combined with textile, composite or metallic reinforcements for wing fairings and other structures.
- Processes include CNC machining of metal parts, waterjet finishing, component testing and qualification.
- Materials used include silicone-based elastomers, polyester, glass, aramid fiber and ceramic fabrics combined with metallic elements.
- The site houses a materials laboratory and maintains a partnership with the Institut des Métiers de l'Aéronautique for employee training.
- Trelleborg has completed the compliance audit for the AS9100 aerospace standard, with certification still underway.
- The expansion supports global capacity growth in an industry expected to see continued strong demand.
