LIBYA: MinTrans Discusses Flights, Operational Concerns With Turkish Ambassador

- Libyan Minister of Transport Mohammed Salem Al-Shahoubi met Turkish Ambassador to Libya on 22 September 2026 to discuss air connectivity and Turkish Airlines operational challenges in Libya.
- Meeting occurred at Ministry of Transportation headquarters with Undersecretary for Air Transport Affairs, Civil Aviation Authority Head, and International Cooperation Office Director.
- Talks covered Turkish Airlines operational challenges and solutions to sustain and expand operations in Libya.
- Turkish Airlines serves Tripoli Mitiga, Benghazi and Misrata while Pegasus serves Tripoli Mitiga.
- IATA data showed Libya holding USD 25 million in blocked airline funds as of March 2026. However, as an oil & gas exporter, Libya has benefited from oil sitting at around USD 100 per barrel since March 2026 due to the US-Iran war.
