LIBYA: Libyan Airlines denies plans to sell-off mothballed A330 stuck in Cairo
TRIPOLI, Libya
- Libyan Airlines denied local newspaper reports that it sold one aircraft located in Egypt - specifically A330-200 (MSN 1505 ¦ 5A-LAT), a 12.5-year-old widebody that has been stored on a remote ramp in Cairo since an incident in 2022.
- The carrier stated it has no decision or plan to sell or scrap any aircraft from its fleet inside or outside Libya.
- Priorities remain preservation of assets and return of grounded aircraft to service to raise fleet readiness and operational capacity.
- The airline initiated legal procedures over false information in the report that it said harms the company and its financial reputation.
- Libyan Airlines' active fleet currently consists of a single A320-200, (MSN 4405 ¦ 5A-LAH), used to connect Tripoli Mitiga with Tunis, Sfax, Alexandria, Cairo, Benghazi, and Niamey.
