# LIBYA: Air Traffic Management Centre Inaugurated Next To Tripoli International Airport

TRIPOLI, Libya

- Libyan Transport Minister Mohamed Al-Shahoubi inaugurated the Air Traffic Management Centre next to Tripoli International Airport.
- The centre forms part of the plan to upgrade air navigation services to latest international standards.
- Attendees included Lieutenant General Abdel-Fattah Al-Ballouq, Chief of Staff of Air Defence, Air Force representatives, Civil Aviation Authority specialists, Air Defence Staff and centre technical personnel.
- Direct communications were monitored between air traffic control and aircraft near Kufra and the Egyptian border.
- The Ministry stated the centre marks a qualitative leap in Libyan airspace management and will encourage more international airlines to resume transits.
- Minister Al-Shahoubi called for updated cooperation agreements between the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority and Air Defence Staff plus expanded training of technical personnel.
- Chief of Staff of Air Defence confirmed readiness to expand joint operations with the civil aviation sector.
- No official opening date for Tripoli International Airport was given at the event.
