AMMAN, Jordan
- Wizz Air has scrapped the planned restart of routes to Abu Dhabi and Dubai for the winter season.
- The European LCC cancelled all flights to and from the UAE destinations until March 27, 2027.
- Regional airspace restrictions made the flights commercially unviable.
- Wizz Air postponed UAE flight resumption to the summer season start instead of 25 October.
- It said regional airspace restrictions extended on 30 September require longer routings and have raised A320neo and A321 XLR operating costs.
- The UAE flights formed part of a plan for 12 routes and 49 weekly flights to the Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
- The plan offered 470,000 seats to nine European cities.
- European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) extended its warning to avoid Jordanian airspace at all altitudes until 16 October.
- EASA recommendations stem from the Iran conflict under its latest Conflict Zone Information Bulletin.
- Wizz Air delayed resumption of Amman flights until 27 March, 2027.
- The airline will continue to monitor developments and reassess operations.
- International airlines have revised Middle East flight schedules during the eight-month Iran war due to airspace restrictions and higher fuel costs.
