AMMAN, Jordan

- Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Local Administration Minister Walid Al-Masri, Transport and Labour Minister Nidal Al-Qatamin and Awqaf Minister Mohammad Al-Khalayleh met at the Transport Ministry.
- The ministers examined public transport links between Queen Alia International Airport, central Amman and Amman City Airport (Marka).
- Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) lies about 35 kilometers south of downtown Amman, with the drive taking roughly 30 to 60 minutes depending on traffic via the Desert Highway. In contrast, Amman City Airport (ADJ) —also known as Marka Airport — is much closer to city centre, sitting approximately 6 kilometers to its northeast.
- Both airports see scheduled passenger traffic with Marka seeing significantly [more budget carrier flying](https://insideaviation.news/jordan-air-arabia-expands-amman-service-with-flights-to-amman-city-airport/).
- The ministers also reviewed routes via existing stations to improve passenger movement and service integration.
- At present, the fastest public transport means between Queen Alia and Amman Civil Airport is to use the Sariyah Airport Express Bus in combination with local transit. Because there is no direct public transit route connecting the two hubs, the journey requires a transfer at Amman North Bus Station and as such, can take over 90 minutes to complete.
- The meeting also addressed traffic relief on main roads between Amman and governorates plus connections to New Amra.
- Ministers discussed rollout of a park-and-ride scheme to cut private vehicle entries into congested zones.
- They assessed investment of Awqaf-owned land near the airport for transport-related projects.
- The ministers stressed preparation of practical plans and better coordination among agencies for integrated transport and infrastructure projects.
