IRAQ: Ministry of Transport Says 11 European Airlines Seek Baghdad Flights

- Iraq Ministry of Transport said 11 European airlines submitted official requests to operate flights to Baghdad International Airport.
- Eurowings, a Lufthansa Group subsidiary, will launch four weekly direct flights from Berlin to Baghdad in December.
- Ihab Saad Karim, Director General of the General Company for Airports and Air Navigation Management, said the interest reflects growing confidence in the airport's capabilities.
- Eurowings will begin operations after completing technical, operational and security assessments.
- The return of German and European carriers forms part of the ministry's plan to strengthen Iraqi airports and expand international air links.
