IRAN: Major General Rezaei Warns Neighbours About Embracing U.S. Aviation-related Sanctions
- Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Major General Rezaei warned neighboring countries not to join US aviation sanctions against Iran or face reciprocal flight bans. He added: "If this happens, we will prevent the flights of aircraft from neighboring countries that are partners of the United States."
- US Department of the Treasury OFAC embargoed all Iranian airlines this month and warned foreign firms enabling them via aircraft transfers, cargo services or sales agent support of serious consequences.
- Iranian media reported suspensions of flights to Baghdad plus all airports in Oman and Azerbaijan; Georgia and Mahan Airlines services to Istanbul had already halted, with 75 percent of Iran's foreign flights serving Iraq and Turkey.
