# EGYPT: Three Russian Airlines Vie for El Alamein and Borg el-Arab Flights

MOSCOW, Russia

- Red Wings, NordStar and IrAero requested Rosaviatsia approval for scheduled flights to the Mediterranean cities of El Alamein and Borg El Arab.
- Red Wings applied for up to seven weekly flights from Zhukovsky and Yekaterinburg to Borg el-Arab. NordStar and IrAero applied for up to two weekly flights from Moscow to El Alamein.
- Direct flights from Russia to Borg El Arab and El Alamein started in August. Earlier flights to Egypt served only Cairo, Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh.
- Air Cairo, Red Sea Airlines and Nesma Airlines launched El Alamein flights in September for Russian tour operators.
