# EGYPT: Egyptian Airports Company Plans New Terminal at El Alamein Airport

EL ALAMEIN, Egypt

- Egyptian Airports Company chairman Wael El-Nashar said El Alamein International Airport has recorded 29 percent growth and now plans to add a new terminal with annual capacity of 4.5 million to 5 million passengers.
- The company has already raised existing terminal capacity from 300 to 650 passengers per hour.
- Arrival procedures now take 15 to 20 minutes from aircraft to baggage claim, passports and customs. El Alamein, located on Egypt's Mediterranean coast about 106 kilometres (66 mi) west of Alexandria, saw 99,921 passengers in August and September this year against 77,409 fo the same period last year.
- EAC has improved services at Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada and El Alamein airports to raise quality, ease passenger flow and strengthen safety standards.
