DOHA, Qatar

- EgyptAir Holding Company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Captain Ahmed Adel met Boeing and Airbus executives in Doha to review delivery schedules for Boeing 737 MAX 8s and Airbus A350-900s on order, EgyptAir said on 4 November.
- The meetings took place on the sidelines of the 59th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO) in Doha, Qatar. Adel was accompanied by Ayman Thabet, head of planning at EgyptAir Holding.
- Adel met Anbessie Yitbarek, Boeing vice president of commercial sales and marketing for Africa, to follow up on deliveries of new 737 MAX 8s and review the delivery timetable in coordination with lessor SMBC Aviation Capital (SMBC), aiming to ensure agreed delivery programs are met. They also discussed future cooperation to support EgyptAir's operational requirements and fleet renewal plans.
- SMBC is placing 18 737 MAX 8s with EgyptAir, the first of which it delivered on 1 May 2026\. The lessor said it was the first 737-8 to enter service in Egypt.
- Adel also met Gabriel Semelas, president of Airbus Africa and Middle East, to follow up on contracted A350-900 deliveries and work to remove obstacles that could affect the delivery timetable, as well as future cooperation in line with EgyptAir's strategy to develop its fleet across various types.
- Adel met Steven Townend, CEO of lessor BOC Aviation, to discuss cooperation to meet EgyptAir's widebody and narrowbody requirements and to study available financing and leasing options to give flexibility in fleet planning.
- The two companies began their relationship in November 2025, when BOC Aviation agreed to purchase and lease back three A350-900s from EgyptAir on a mix of long-term operating and finance leases, with the first delivery scheduled for 2025\. Adel described it as EgyptAir's first A350 financing and said he looked forward to further transactions with the lessor.
- Adel said talks with major manufacturers and lessors reflect EgyptAir's push to diversify its operational and financing options. No aircraft numbers or new commitments were disclosed.
- Inside Aviation News [previously reported](https://insideaviation.news/egypt-egyptair-in-talks-with-lessors-for-more-widebodies-to-issue-rfp/) that Adel said in September EgyptAir was negotiating with lessor AerCap for additional leased widebodies and would issue a request for proposals (RFP) to manufacturers and lessors in the coming months.
- At the time, Adel said a 34-aircraft package of 18 737 MAX and 16 A350-1000 is intended to cover the next three to five years, and that management is revising the fleet plan, subject to civil aviation ministry approval, to 125 aircraft before 2030 instead of 97, then 200 by 2035.
- EgyptAir had then taken four A350-900s against an order for 16, with the last due in 2031, and four 737 MAX 8s, with four more expected by year-end.
- EgyptAir has been contacted for comment.
