CAMEROON: Egypt And Cameroon Sign Memorandum Of Understanding In Civil Aviation And Discuss Launching Direct Route Between Cairo And Yaoundé

- The Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority has initialled a memorandum of understanding with the Cameroonian Civil Aviation Authority during a recent visit to Yaoundé.
- Sides discussed launch of a direct Cairo-Yaoundé air route.
- Visit followed coordination at Africa and Indian Ocean Aviation Week hosted in Cairo in July.
- Visit followed earlier trip to Egypt by Paule Assoumou Koki, head of the Cameroonian Civil Aviation Authority.
- Meetings addressed Cameroonian priorities in aviation safety, aircraft airworthiness and maintenance, flight operations, air navigation, airports, licensing of pilots, crews and staff, regulations, search and rescue, crisis and emergency management, and aviation security.
- Sides discussed Egyptian technical and manpower support via expert deployments to Cameroon and training of Cameroonian personnel in Egypt.
- Egyptian side included Samih Mohamed Fawzi, head of Civil Aviation Authority, Mohamed Kamal Al-Mutairi, general manager of technical inspection, and Rania Hammad, general manager of technical office.
- Egyptian ambassador to Cameroon Marwa Hijazi and consul Ahmed El-Sawy attended meetings.
- Minister Samih El-Hefny stated Egypt continues to expand African civil aviation partnerships through expertise exchange, training and capacity building.
- Initialled memorandum of understanding prepares ground for executive programs aligned with agreed technical priorities.
- Sides also discussed use of Egyptian experience to develop and raise operational efficiency of Cameroonian airports.
