BAHRAIN: Texel Air Set to Secure 11-Year Hangar Extension
MUHARRAQ, Bahrain: Bahrain Airport Company will extend by 11 years Texel Air's hangar agreement at Bahrain International Airport.
MUHARRAQ, Bahrain
- Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator of Bahrain International Airport (BAH), said it is progressing an 11-year extension of Texel Air's hangar agreement at the airport.
- BAC made the announcement on 1 November on the sidelines of the Gateway Gulf Investment Forum 2026, held in Manama on 1–2 November.
- Texel Air is a subsidiary of Chisholm Enterprises, which marks 20 years in Bahrain in 2026. It operates two 737-700 and three 737-800 freighters on flights throughout the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
- Texel Air acquired its twin-bay hangar at Bahrain International Airport in 2025. Since then it has invested significantly in upgrading the facility, which supports aircraft maintenance, cargo operations and private aviation.
- BAC said the extension would give Texel Air a long-term platform to develop its operations and invest in its facilities at the airport, and would support Bahrain's wider aviation, air cargo and logistics ambitions.
- Chisholm Enterprises CEO George Chisholm said the agreement would let the company plan its next phase of investment at the airport, including additional hangar capacity, and bring more maintenance, charter and cargo activity to Bahrain.
- BAC described the extension as "planned" and "proposed". It has not said when the agreement will be signed, and it gave no financial terms.
- Also at Gateway Gulf 2026, Bahrain awarded Golden Licenses to DHL, which will build its only regional maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Bahrain International Airport, and to AirAsia parent Capital A, whose three planned aviation ventures in Bahrain include air cargo expansion and in-country aircraft MRO.
