BORDJ BADJI MOKHTAR, Algeria

- Algerian air navigation services provider (ENNA) Director General Mounir Charouati met the Governor of Bordj Badji Mokhtar Province, located in the southwest Algerian Sahara region along the border with Mali, on October 6, 2026.
- The meeting reviewed Bordj Mokhtar Airport's (BMW/DATM) status and plans to add air traffic controllers, telecommunications, power and lighting engineers and technicians, rescue and firefighting vehicles, and air navigation equipment.

- Currently, Bordj Mokhtar Airport is restricted to operating between 0700L (0700Z) and 1500L (1500Z). A joint military airfield, it features a single runway (08/26) of dimension 3300 × 45 m. Given no ILS/DME are currently serviceable, instrument approaches are VOR RWY 26 only (CAT A/B and CAT C/D).
- ILS/DME system installation and technical operation are complete while certification procedures remain pending.
- ENNA confirmed plans to bring the ILS/DME into operational use within unspecified deadlines.
- Bordj Badji Mokhtar Airport will then transition to 24-hour operations in the first half of 2027.
- Officials agreed to maintain coordination and accelerate priority projects to improve safety and readiness.
- Bodrj Mokhtar sees scheduled passenger flights to Adrar via Domestic Airlines.
